Dexter asked, "Love me?"
He yanked Regina's chestnut-dyed hair back sharply, the strands tangling messily between his fingers. The blinding light from the massive chandelier bore down into Regina's eyes, forcing her to tilt her head back. She found herself staring straight into Dexter's eyes—cold, sharp, and devoid of warmth.
Dexter held the phone up in front of her face. The screen flickered weakly, illuminating the cruel words she had once typed, now lighting up like evidence.
"I told you before, Regina—you weren't meant to stay. I gave you everything you asked for, but you still went behind my back to reach out to Laura.
"Did I let you get too comfortable? Too entitled? When you told people I was just your cash cow, was that also supposed to be because you loved me?"
His voice was terrifyingly low, but there was a tremor at the end that betrayed the storm building inside him.
