My thoughts narrowed to one thing—saving Mira. Everything else blurred. I ignored the thick metallic scent of blood clogging the hallway and the horrifying dead weight of her limp body. I slammed the door shut, bolted it, and dragged her down the narrow hallway toward the bathroom.
Her skin was ice cold.
Her breathing barely existed.
I set her in a sitting position and tore her torn shirt away, my stomach twisting violently. The claw marks carved into her shoulder were deep—ragged tears of flesh, raw and oozing. A brutal attack. The kind that left scars even after wolf healing.
I swallowed back a gag. “Mira… gods.”
I dropped to my knees, pressing my ear to her chest. Her breathing was faint—shallow, broken, fading.
