Chapter 34 Anticipation

I turned on the tap, pouring myself a glass of water from the kitchen, and leaned against the counter. My phone beeped twice with a notification. I glanced down to see another message from Aria.
"Where are you girl?" it read. "The party is starting in an hour, and you promised."
I scrolled down the line of threats with a chuckle and put the phone down on the counter. It was evening time. My shift was over, and even though I wanted to spend the rest of the night locked in my room and punching code after code into my laptop, I knew that Aria would go crazy if I didn't.
"An hour is enough, I'll be right there," I texted back quickly, slipping the phone into my pocket.
Narah had gone quiet. I refused to let it bother me as I stepped out of the kitchen. Maybe it was because I wasn't preparing our next line of action and working on bringing down Ryder like I was supposed to be doing.
Elias's voice echoed in my head—"don't lose your focus."
I brushed it aside. I knew how to take care of
