I sat at the council table, mapping out the strategic locations where the soldiers would be placed.
The room was deathly silent, the elders' council surrounding the table watching me make the final verdict. With one look, everyone was on edge, and rightly so. This would be the last time that any pack would dare to disrespect me.
And for that matter, I didn't even care who was responsible for the slip-up. I had a reason to go out to war, and that was more than I wanted.
"Alpha Ryder." The door opened. I lifted my eyes to see Draven walking in. He bowed.
I waved a hand in the air. "Come over here, Draven. What do you see?"
He walked closer, his shadow looming over the map as he peered down.
"Victory." I lifted my head to face him with a smile. "You can see it, don't you? At every nook and cranny. And you know what I'm going to do after the war?"
