I stood in the middle of the dungeon holding my forehead. Kiara was trying to make this harder than it had to be. All she had to do was tell me what they had done to Lusia. She was still unconscious and I hated that. I feared her condition was worse than it looked. I hated having to be optimistic.
I was thinking of my next move as I turned to the guard who was standing close to the entrance.
“Bring me the ex-beta from his cell now,” I ordered.
The guard nodded and headed towards the cell.
The dungeon was quiet and the damp air stuck that waltzed in through the entrance kissed my skin. The torchlight barely cut through the shadows, but I could still see her, Kiara, cowering in that stinking cell I’d just left.
Her wide, scared eyes had locked on me the second I’d stepped in like she thought I was some monster coming to rip her apart.
