Chapter 209
In the underground interrogation room of the Carter family, the harsh white light was blinding, making it hard for Fiona to even open her eyes.
She hung limply, chained to the wall. Her torn lab coat was soaked with blood leaking through the bandages.
The interrogator approached, holding a stun baton. Fiona clenched her eyes shut, refusing to flinch.
"Where are Charles and the others?" His voice dripped with coldness.
"And that woman's baby—what's the connection there?"
A bloody smirk tugged at Fiona's lips. "Wanna find out?"
Without warning, she slammed her knee into his gut. Caught off guard, he stumbled back with a grunt, then furiously pressed the baton against her open wound.
The pain exploded through her nerves like a shockwave. White light burst behind her eyelids, but she gritted her teeth and held on. Not a word slipped out.
When she came to again, she was lying in a med pod.
The smell of antiseptic mixed with the metallic scent of blood in the air. Her abdomen throbbed beneat
