As requested, the technician tapped on Hank's previous full-body scan right away, enlarging the section over his pancreas as requested.
With the contrasting agent, the scans before had shown that Hank's cancer had grown rapidly, causing the pancreatic head to swell.
Pat stared at the scan, murmuring, "There's no mistake—the cancer was there, obvious and huge. How did it just disappear?!"
Turning to the technician, he urged, "Quick! Switch to the new scans!"
The technician quickly did so, but once again it was obvious—there was no abnormal tumor growth.
Pat was left gaping, and he turned to the doctors around him, "Does this even make sense?"
"Nope," Greg was the one who answered, shaking his head. "Even an ink splotch would leave a smear, but the new images are squeaky clean."
Turning to the technician, he asked, "Could it be a machine error?"
The technician promptly shook his head. "No. We had system checks when we were notified earlier."
"Well, that's strange…"
