Chapter 323 Guilty
Annie felt worse when she saw the droplets of sweat on Clara’s pale face and forehead. She clasped both hands tightly and felt a sense of guilt.
“I’ll accompany you down,” Myles sighed and said to an unstable Clara. He turned around and glanced at Annie as if he was trying to comfort her with his gaze. Before she could say anything, he took Clara’s hand and led her out the door.
After Myles left, Annie released her clenched fists. Her face was pale and sickly, her lips showing no signs of blood flow. Her body was so wobbly as if she was about to faint at any moment.
When Hugh entered after knocking, Annie was walking toward the couch with heavy footsteps. Under direct sunlight, her back looked so unreal.
“Are you okay, Mrs. Jennings?”
Hugh had mentally prepared himself to be glared at by Myles when he barged in, but instead, he saw Annie stumbling her way toward the couch. His heart sank, wondering what had happened.
