Chapter 11
Megan's voice grew louder, her emotions spiraling further out of control.
The guests around them began to whisper. The tension in the air thickened as things quickly got out of hand.
Evan's expression was icy, though a flicker of something more complicated flashed in his eyes.
His friends, growing desperate, leaned in and whispered to him, "You've gotta say something, Evan. If you don't, this is going to get way worse."
But Evan remained silent.
Megan's tears finally fell. Her voice was laced with despair. "Do you like her or not, Evan? Tell me! They all say it's just one sentence, but you won't say it. Do you know why?"
Evan's eyes flickered. When he finally spoke, his voice was utterly cold. "Are you done yet, Megan?"
But Megan didn't seem to hear him. She pressed on. "No! Not even close! I'm not leaving until you answer me. Do you like her or not?
