CAMERON’S POV
I heard it as soon as I left her room.
The clatter of something hitting the wall.
Then another. And yet another.
Now Selene was shouting, her voice rough and roiling with pain. Even though I could hear the glass breaking and furniture smashing, I chose not to turn around.
Nothing else could be said.
No amount of words could mend the damage I had done to her heart.

EMILIA’S POV
The water had always frightened me. I was utterly horrified by its size, its choking hold, and the possibility that it would rob me of my breath. My stomach turned to knots when Cameron brought up the yearly water tournament at supper last night. Reluctantly and discreetly, I told him that I couldn't swim. He had promised to teach me if I ever wanted to learn, grinning and lovingly smoothing my hair back. However, the mere concept caused my heart to race with fear.
I didn't believe that chat had been heard by anyone else. I had no idea that it would be used against me.
I was mistaken.
