The banquet hall was alive with preparations.
For the first time since my rebirth, I was taking part in the duties that a Luna might—preparing for a charity gala. Despite all of my talk of not missing the attention I used to get, it was honestly kind of nice, getting ready for an event that could actually help people.
Maybe that was partially because the money raised in just one week would go to the people of Stormhollow, the pack I once called home.
The work soothed me, in an unexpected sort of way. Planning out table arrangements, hanging banners, ensuring that centerpieces looked just right—it was all a comforting distraction from Brian’s unending smear campaign and the struggles of daily life.
