"Relax. With me here, nothing's really dangerous."
Alexander didn't notice the massive eye-roll Elizabeth threw at him in the dark.
She'd long since given up trying to argue with him. There was just no point, so she let him be.
Elizabeth took out her silver needle and fiddled with the lock. A soft click later, the door swung open.
The two of them slipped quietly inside. In the center of the room burned an eternal flame lamp. Only then did they realize that the windows were all sealed tight—no wonder there wasn't even a sliver of light visible from the outside.
The room's furnishings weren't easy to make out, but it was still obvious this had once been a girl's bedroom.
Elizabeth gently shut the door and turned her flashlight on.
Her beam stopped on a photo frame.
The woman in the picture was smiling brightly—undoubtedly Edith.
"So this is like... a memorial room?" Alexander said under his breath.
Everything around them was stark white. The incense and candles in front of the photo only
