I quickly wiped away my tears and walked to the door, peeking through the peephole. Seeing Silas standing outside with something in his hands, I opened the door.
He stared at my red, swollen eyes. "What happened? Your eyes are swelling."
I covered my face with my hand and mumbled, "I've slept for too long. That's all."
Silas chuckled and followed me inside.
"Do I look like an idiot? If you're going to make up an excuse, at least try a better one."
I shot him a glare and replied coldly, "And if you already know it's an excuse, why bother calling me out?"
I opened the fridge, looking for something to use as a cold compress for my puffy, unsightly eyes.
Silas leaned an arm against the fridge, watching me with amusement.
"Let me guess why the pretty lady's crying. Ah—must be over a man."
I clicked my tongue and pulled a few ice cubes from the freezer.
"Can you not bring up the one thing I'm trying not to think about? Play dumb for once, will you?"
I tried pressing the ice cubes
