I stared at Reece for a long while as he was the only thing I could see well in the dark. A bead of sweat rolled down his head, and I pushed myself to my feet so I could get to the window. The window was high on the wall so I had to place a high stool next to the wall to get to it.
My only hope was that I wouldn't fall. Because both I and the stool wobbled as I reached up to push open the window.
"This is scary." I murmured to myself as the stool shook dangerously. Earlier, all it did was shake, then balance, and repeat the same thing again, but it stopped because the only thing it did was shake furiously in a way that shook my heart along with it. I was going to fall. I didn't even dare try to lift a leg because it could topple to the floor.
"Oh my God!" I screamed and the stool lifted a leg off the floor, ready to tumble to the ground, but just as it did, it was forced back to the ground and didn't shake.
"Hurry. You're distracting me." Came Reece's tired voice. I immediate
