Chapter 380
In Steven's view, Scarlett appeared even more profound and mysterious than he had initially thought.
"Has anyone else told you something similar?" Scarlett asked Steven, looking surprised.
"Not really. I've only encountered ridicule from small-minded individuals. Your words, Ms. Fischer, emphasize how absurd their perceptions are," Steven replied casually.
While he enjoyed a good rapport with Scarlett, he couldn't disregard the Master Sage of Medicine's caution. He mustn't reveal his lineage until he was at the Divine Realm.
"Small-minded individuals..." Scarlett paused, then turned her gaze ahead. "Is that him?"
Steven looked and saw Conrad at the end of the road. He stood there with an indifferent expression, tinged with coldness, as he met Steven's gaze.
"Kid, you're facing death and still chasing skirts?" Conrad sneered.
"Old Nuisance, are all the Silva family members like dogs and always sniffing around for trouble?" Steven retorted boldly.
"How disrespectful! Watch your mouth!" Despite his 13 Techniques of Inner Harmony training emphasizing self-control, Conrad couldn't stand being called Old Nuisance by Steven all day. Anger bulged his forehead veins.
"I'm a profound grandmaster, yet you keep calling me names! I won't tolerate it!"
"Old Nuisance! Come on and hit me, Old Nuisance!" Steven deliberately provoked Conrad further.
Steven didn't mind irritating Conrad further since he had already deeply offended him. He knew Conrad was proud and easily riled, and angering him could throw him off balance in a fight.
The strategy was to target the weak leg of cripples and exploit the cardiovascular weaknesses of hypertensive individuals.
"You're asking for it!" Conrad erupted in rage, leaping forward straight toward Steven in a blur of motion.
Steven's expression subtly shifted. Conrad indeed possessed considerable skill, his speed even surpassing Steven's Thundering Fury Method.
But just as Conrad closed in on Steven, Scarlett's slender, composed figure stood defiantly before Steven.
"Get out of my way!" Conrad roared, launching a palm strike toward Scarlett. In response, Scarlett casually plucked a willow leaf from nearby and sent it flying toward Conrad.
The fragile and seemingly harmless willow leaf instantly drained color from Conrad's face. He felt an overwhelming aura of lethality emanating from it!
Reacting swiftly, he halted his advance and dodged to the side. The willow leaf grazed his ear, prompting Conrad to scream in agony.
Shockingly, his ear fell to the ground, the wound so precise it seemed surgically excised with precision.
"Who are you?" Conrad exclaimed, clutching his injured ear.
Losing an ear was bad enough, but Scarlett's nonchalant manner across from him was even more unnerving.
The way she effortlessly made him lose an ear was so subtle that he couldn't fathom her technique.
However, he knew one thing for certain. She was no ordinary opponent and was likely a high-grade profound grandmaster.
"Are you scared now, Old Nuisance? No, wait. From now on, I shall call you Single Ear!" Steven, seeing Scarlett standing confidently ahead, felt completely secure.
With a powerful ally by his side, why should he hold back?
He continued to taunt Conrad boldly, capitalizing on his privileged status as a freeloader.
"You think having a profound grandmaster behind you means that I can't take you down?" Upon hearing Steven's new nickname for himself, from Old Nuisance to Single Ear, Conrad boiled with rage, wishing to crush all of Steven's bones.
"I'm a profound grandmaster! How can I become a target for your mockery? I can endure a lot, but this is unacceptable! Can't you show even a little respect that even a mere mortal should show toward a profound grandmaster?"
