Chapter 393
Steven was already burning with desire. Darlene's teasing only stoked the fire, leaving him desperate for release.
Turning down Darlene, he toyed with the idea of calling Jillian over instead. Taking care of his number one fan seemed like the perfect distraction.
Just as he reached for his phone, an unknown number flashed on the screen.
Curious, he answered, and Winona's urgent voice crackled through. "You've gotta get outta there now! Jordan knows you've crossed Alfred, and he's on his way to make amends. They're plotting to team up and take you out."
"Would Alfred really team up with Jordan?" Steven was incredulous, especially since Jordan's son had sicced his dog on Alfred's daughter.
"Jordan's bending over backwards to apologize and swear loyalty to the Silva family. With Alfred short on manpower, it's a no-brainer he'd team up," Winona urgently spilled. "They're holed up at the hospital right now, scheming on how to take you out!"
As Winona laid out the scheme, a storm of emotions swirled within Steven.
He'd always known Alfred was shady, but this revelation shook him to the core.
To take him down, Alfred was ready to bury the hatchet with Jordan, despite the brutal incident involving Jordan's son and Alfred's own daughter.
Seemed like beneath Alfred's facade of fatherly concern lay a self-serving agenda.
Steven chuckled calmly, "I wonder how Jordan would react if he knew you were the one giving me the heads-up."
"Now's not the time for jokes!" Winona snapped, her voice tinged with hysteria. She wouldn't risk calling Steven unless she feared getting caught for betraying Jordan.
And here Steven was, teasing her when things were this tense.
Winona felt like tearing Steven apart.
"What's there to panic about? Jordan's a nobody. Even Conrad, a profound grandmaster, lost an ear to me. Jordan wouldn't dare touch me," Steven scoffed.
Scarlett wouldn't always be there to have his back. But Jordan and his crew didn't know that.
They'd be too scared to act recklessly, so Steven had nothing to worry about.
"Are you crazy? Besides Conrad, there's also Caspian's sixth-grade grandmaster gunning for you. They're all teaming up to boost Caspian's power and ensure they can finish you off," Winona fumed.
With the strict rules among the Drakon sixth-grade grandmasters, nobody dared interfere without facing serious consequences.
She feared if Steven got cornered, he might spill the beans about her betrayal of Jordan as a last-ditch revenge tactic.
"Caspian's just a piece of garbage. If I don't wipe the floor with him in two days, he'll think he got off easy!" Steven sneered, showing nothing but contempt for Caspian.
It wasn't arrogance; it was the truth. Steven had just broken through to a new level. Like Caspian, he was a sixth-grade grandmaster, but armed with his double pupils, Legendary Dragon Strike, Void Cleaving Palm, and Thundering Fury Method, he could take on even an eighth-grade grandmaster without breaking a sweat.
Even facing a ninth-grade master, Steven knew he had an ace up his sleeve with the Jade Severing Dagger, providing him a fighting chance.
As for Caspian, despite any rapid power boosts he might undergo in the next two days, the prospect of him achieving profound grandmaster status seemed far-fetched, especially considering the limited resources of Jordan and the Silva family.
While Joseph could achieve such feats effortlessly, Steven doubted Jordan and the Silva family could measure up to Joseph's capabilities.
"What are you talking about? Look at you right now. Any third-grade grandmaster could take you down!" Winona was on the brink of exasperation.
Steven smirked. "Are you worried about me?"
"Worried? You've got some nerve!"
"Women and their double standards. Fine, since you want me to lay low, I'll take your advice…"
