Chapter 395
"Based on Mr. Heath's description, the woman protecting Steven must be Scarlett," Jordan said.
"Impossible!" Conrad, lying in bed with his head wrapped in bandages, retorted firmly.
"Isn't Scarlett one of the Four Grandmasters of Levix City and the weakest among them? I know her; she's just a Heavenly Realm Grandmaster.
"The one who injured me was at least a fifth-grade Profound Grandmaster. There's no way Scarlett is that powerful!"
"It is strange, but based on your description, it was undoubtedly Scarlett..." Jordan said, frowning. He knew the profiles of the Four Grandmasters of Levix City inside and out.
According to the records, Scarlett was only a fourth-grade Grandmaster. However, Conrad's detailed account left no room for doubt—it had to be Scarlett.
But how could it be? Scarlett was known to be a Heavenly Realm Grandmaster. How could she have suddenly become a fifth-grade Profound Grandmaster capable of easily overpowering Conrad?
It just didn't add up.
"I'll dig deep into this. An unexpected fifth-grade Profound Grandmaster showing up in Levix City ain't no small potatoes!" Jordan said, his tone resolute.
"Whoever they are, they're just a fifth-grade Profound Grandmaster. I've already rallied my family and summoned a sixth-grade Profound Grandmaster! When they roll in, Scarlett will bow down before me," Alfred declared, his face dark with fury.
"Isn't she hell-bent on protecting Steven? When the time comes, I'll make sure Steven watches as I put Scarlett through hell! I want to hear him beg for mercy on his knees!"
The more someone lacked something, the more they crave it. For Alfred, it was his status as a son-in-law—a sore spot he fiercely guarded after rising to power. No one dared mention it in his presence. But Steven's relentless prodding reopened that wound, deeply unsettling Alfred's pride.
Now, Steven's days were numbered, and anyone who dared assist him would confront Alfred's unrestrained wrath.
Winona, just entering the room, felt a rush of anxiety as she eavesdropped. She was planning to brief Steven later when her cell phone rang.
All eyes turned to the noise. Winona nervously fumbled, "Sorry, I need to take this call."
"Who's clueless enough to call now? Can't they see we're in the middle of something big?" Jordan snapped impatiently.
"I had a doctor's appointment to check on Lyle's condition, hoping he'll make a full recovery and walk again..." Winona started, her voice shaky.
Ruby sensed something was off but chose to remain silent.
"Go ahead," Jordan said with a dismissive wave.
Jordan turned to Alfred with an apologetic smile. "Forgive me, women are such a hassle."
Alfred glanced at Winona as she hurried out and commented, "Your wife's quite something. There's no need to be so tough on her."
Jordan's expression darkened. Of course he knew his wife was exceptional, but he didn't appreciate Alfred eyeing her. His allegiance to the Silva family didn't diminish his pride; Winona's honor was a matter he fiercely guarded.
Changing the subject abruptly, he added, "Speaking of which, I wonder where Steven's run off to now…"
Meanwhile, Winona rushed out of the room, answering her phone with an angry whisper, "Are you out of your mind? Don't call me!"
To her surprise, Steven's calm voice came through the line. "Just turn around."
"What?" Winona paused, confused.
Turning, she saw the door to the next room swing open. Steven stood there, holding his phone and smiling.
Stunned, Winona sensed trouble ahead. She couldn't afford to get caught up in Steven's antics.
Before she could react, Steven grabbed her arm, pulling her into the room and shutting the door behind them.
"You're crazy," she said angrily.
