Chapter 20
After his career took off, Evan suggested taking Cheyenne to Juville to see the Northern Lights.
They set off soon after.
Under the night sky, vibrant ribbons of light shimmered and danced above them, weaving across the heavens.
Bundled in a thick down jacket, Cheyenne stood in the middle of a frozen lake. Her breath turned to mist, blending into the colors swirling before her eyes.
"Are you cold?" Evan came up behind her and gently wrapped a cashmere scarf around her neck, his fingertips warm against her skin.
She shook her head, her eyes never leaving the lights overhead. "I didn't know something this beautiful really existed."
"Prettier than the ones you paint?" he teased, his voice carried away by the wind.
"It's a different kind of beauty." She smiled and turned around, meeting his soft gaze. "The ones I paint come from imagination. This one's real. Thank you, Evan."
He smiled and took her hand, leading her toward a small wooden cabin nearby.
