Michael had expected Amelia to call. He lowered his gaze, his long fingers tapping a steady rhythm against the table.
"I'm sending her where she needs to go."
Abroad?
"No. You can't do that," Amelia protested.
Michael's tone remained unhurried. "If she's in critical condition and needs treatment abroad, then she should go immediately. You dragging this out is only wasting her time."
"But if you force her onto a plane like this, she'll die," Amelia shot back.
Rachel had told Amelia more than once that she didn't want to go abroad alone. She was terrified of being thrown into an unfamiliar place by herself.
"Amelia, your mother isn't as fragile as you're making her out to be," Michael said.
Amelia couldn't accept that.
A person's fragility couldn't be judged at a glance. Michael hadn't even met Rachel. What right did he have to make that judgment?
