Chapter 678 It Is No Longer Important Whether I Was Hallucinating Or Not
‘What did he just say?’
Madeleine was dumbfounded at first but she gradually understood his meaning.
“Do you mean that… you thought that I wouldn’t come to look for you? So, you were thinking that you were hallucinating earlier?”
Mason’s gaze darkened a little before he responded, “It’s no longer important whether I was hallucinating or not.”
Madeleine was a little speechless.
She was not sure what Mason wanted. He was giving her mixed signals. She remembered that she had once said something to him.
If he was not able to give her complete security, he should not continue to pursue her.
After all that happened between them, she was now a sensitive soul, but it was because she was like that, she could put herself into Mason’s shoes and empathize with his feelings.
She felt that since he had always made the first move, there was no harm for her to make the first move once.
“So… what is important for you?
“Lil Millet?” Madeleine asked her first question followed by a second question.
“Is it because you have him now that you think that I’m no longer important to you…”
Before she completed her sentence, Mason had already leaned over for a kiss. Earlier, he had kissed the tears on her face, this time, he kissed her lips without a doubt. She was taken aback for a moment before she pushed him away.
“What is the meaning of this? Is it fun to give me mixed signals?”
Mason leaned closer and hugged her tightly. His cold lips touched her earlobe as he sighed.
“It’s not fun.
“Not fun at all. These few days… were torturous for me as well.
“I know that you’re hurt but I haven’t fully digested this piece of news. One thing for sure is that I never thought about breaking up with you. I will still look for you even if you didn’t come to find me.”
The warmth from his body could be felt by her through their clothes. Mason hugged her tighter and tighter. Madeleine was beginning to have difficulty breathing from being squeezed so tightly but at the same time, the emptiness within her heart had disappeared as well.
She decided to just close her eyes and return Mason’s hug as well.
Who said a hug could not fix all problems?
If one was inadequate, then make it two.
The past few days had been frustrating but Madeleine felt that nothing else was more important right now when he hugged her. What was important was that both of them were together and had a mutual understanding.
The hug lasted quite some time before Mason gradually released her and asked in a low voice, “Do you want to come to my place tonight?”
“… What?”
“Or do you want to go to your place?”
Madeleine, “…”
She was lost for a moment before she understood what Mason meant. Her cheeks felt searing hot and it took her a while before she answered, “Y-your place.”
Her place was not convenient at all!
She was living with Iris, and Lil Millet was around as well.
She still remembered the embarrassment the other day when Iris came back to their love-making that if there was a hole in the ground at that moment, she would jump inside without any hesitation!
“Okay.”
Mason lifted her bridal style the moment he got her answer. Madeleine gasped and instinctively grabbed onto Mason’s neck.
“W-what are you doing? Put me down, I can walk by myself.”
“I’m carrying you into my car.”
Madeleine spoke, “… It’s fine. It’s just a few steps away. Besides, I do remember that I drove here.”
She then shook the car keys that were in her hand. Mason narrowed his eyes and pecked her face. “Just leave your car here and take it tomorrow.”
Madeleine pursed her lips and kept quiet, allowing him to carry her into his car. Mason helped her to put on her seatbelt before he drove off.
On the way back, Madeleine looked at his side profile.
“Have you… forgotten something?”
Mason had his focus on the road ahead and side-glanced at her when he heard her question.
He did not seem to understand what Madeleine was getting at, thus she had to remind him. “Were you planning to go pick up Lil Millet just now?”
Mason's hands that were on the steering wheel were stunned for a moment and he frowned.
‘From the looks of it, he seriously forgot about it?’ Madeleine’s lips twitched. ‘I thought that… since he had just got to know his son, his son would be his priority, but what happened to him? Did he just forget about his son because I came to look for him?’
Coincidentally, it was a red light ahead. Mason stopped the car and frowned. “I’ll turn back later.”
Madeleine asked in disbelief, “… You seriously forgot?”
Mason pursed his lips at her response then he placed a fist on his lips to cough.
“Is this even possible? That’s your son and you…”
Mason turned his head to stare at her. “Who asked you to come and disturb me?”
Madeleine’s lips parted in disbelief. ‘What has this got to do with me?’
“I’ll make a U-turn later.” He said nothing else. He himself did not expect that he was rushing over to pick up Lil Millet before all that happened but when she appeared, he had completely forgotten about his son.
‘Looks like when she appears, my thoughts can easily be manipulated by her.’
“You don’t need to make a U-turn.” Madeleine looked at his handsome face in defeat. “I’ve asked Iris to pick up Lil Millet before coming to find you. If I were to wait for you to remember about him, I think Lil Millet would have been kidnapped by child traffickers…”
Mason, “…”
He raised a hand to massage his throbbing temples. He never expected that he would forget such an important thing. If Madeleine had not mentioned it, he would have just driven her back to the Coastal Villa and… Lil Millet would be abandoned in school.
Far away, Lil Millet who was in the car with Iris sneezed out of the blue. Iris immediately turned to look at him.
“Are you alright, Lil Millet? Why did you suddenly sneeze? Did you catch a cold?”
She quickly hugged Lil Millet. “The weather is getting colder nowadays, remember to wear an extra layer when you leave the house next time.”
Lil Millet blinked his eyes. “Aunt Iris, I’m not cold… I just felt an itch in my nose. Could someone be scolding me behind my back?”
“Scold you?” Iris was puzzled. “Who would scold you? You’re the cutest boy I’ve known. Could it be your classmates?”
“Um, probably not.” Lil Millet shook his head and changed the subject. “Aunt Iris, are you sure mommy asked you to pick me up?”
“Of course. Do you think I’d lie to you? Or are you so used to being with your daddy that you don’t want me to pick you up anymore?”
“Not at all. I just miss mommy.”
Iris ruffled his head in defeat. “Be a good boy. Your mommy and daddy need to spend some quality time together to build their relationship. Once they’re all good, then you can have both mommy and daddy together, isn’t that great?”
Lil Millet said, “You’ve got a point.”
“So, be a good boy and help me win your uncle’s heart instead. As a man, you need to keep to your word.”
