Chapter 681 Just Go To Sleep
That night.
Mason hugged her tightly to sleep. His arms coiled around her like sturdy chains, trapping her inside his embrace that Madeleine could not stay further from him even if she wanted to.
It was approaching autumn by now but inside a closed room without any natural breeze, she found it a little stuffy being cuddled so tightly by Mason.
Especially when his body temperature is much higher than hers which made her feel as if a ball of fire was enveloping her.
It was beginning to feel unbearably stuffy, thus she pushed his arms and said, “Let go a little bit, I can’t breathe.”
From behind her came a low breathing sound followed by a breath of warm air on the back of her neck. She could feel Mason’s lips approaching her.
“Liar, I didn’t use much strength so why can’t you breathe?”
Madeleine felt defeated that he saw through her but she did feel uncomfortable being hugged like that.
“You’re not me, so how do you know that you didn’t use much strength?”
‘Oh?” Mason chuckled. “Then shall we switch?”
“Wha?”
“You hug me to sleep instead.”
Madeleine, “…”
‘What joke of the century is this?
‘Asking me to hug him to sleep? He’s dreaming too much.’ Madeleine complained inwardly before she rejected him. “In your dreams.”
“Why should it be in my dreams? You said that I’m not you so I won’t know if it’s too strong. So let’s exchange and see.”
Madeleine said, “You talk as if it makes sense but you just want to take advantage of me.”
It was pitch silence behind her for a moment before she felt as if Mason’s body seemed to feel hotter than before and the atmosphere became stuffier.
She could not help from complaining about him.
“Why is your body so hot?”
“Don’t you know why it’s hot?”
“Just go to sleep.”
‘Rascal.
‘He’s doing it on purpose.
‘I should just go to sleep…
‘Sleep.
‘Yes!’
Madeleine closed her eyes and tried to lull herself to sleep but the heat coming from the person behind her was rather frightening.
She nagged at him inside her mind but gradually drifted off to sleep.
Mason kept his hands around her all the time.
He knew how agitated she was but… after about five minutes, he felt that her breathing gradually stabilized.
Mason looked down at Madeleine only to find that she had fallen asleep.
‘She could just sleep like that?’
Mason smiled wryly. ‘This woman is so heartless. Can’t she empathize with me?
‘But I was the one who insisted on hugging her and bringing this discomfort upon myself. I can’t really blame her.’
He continued to lie there for a while but later decided to get up and headed to the shower.
He took a cold shower for about ten minutes or so before he could wash away all that desire within him. He went back to lie next to Madeleine and wrapped himself around her to sleep, but this time, he did not kill himself by hugging her tightly.
The next day when Madeleine woke up, the sun was bright and up in the sky. She blurrily reached for her phone under the pillow while half asleep but found nothing.
‘Huh?’
She was puzzled and felt around under the pillow but it was still empty.
She opened her eyes and found her phone on the side table next to the bed. She reached over to get her phone but something was pulling her back at her waist.
“Why are you up so early?” Mason had just woken up and his voice sounded hoarse. “Sleep a little longer.”
“I can’t.” Madeleine pushed his hand. “I need to get to work. Looking at the sun, I think it’s quite late already.”
“Have you forgotten?”
“Huh?”
“It’s the weekend, you don’t need to work.”
Madeleine, “…”
‘Is it the weekend already?’ She counted the days and realized that it was true.
‘I didn’t realize the days had flown by.’
She was still sleepy thus she plopped back in bed and slept again.
This time, she woke up in the afternoon and Mason was nowhere to be seen.
She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and looked outside the glass window at the blue sea.
Her mood would be beautiful if she were to wake up to such a view every day.
Another possibility was that everything looks beautiful because… Mason and she had reconciled their relationship.
She had lived here five years ago, thus she knew her way around the place. She got up and went over to the bathroom to wash up.
Someone knocked on the bathroom door when they heard her inside.
“Young Madam, you’re awake, are you?”
Madeleine’s mouth was filled with toothpaste foam. She rinsed her mouth and answered,
“Yes.”
“Lunch is ready. I’ll wait outside for you.”
Madeleine responded and hurried up.
She felt bad that someone was waiting for her, thus she sped up in cleaning up, tied her hair into a ponytail, and opened the bathroom door.
An unfamiliar housekeeper was waiting for her outside. She did not find any familiar faces working in this place.
She was stunned for a moment and appeared a little disappointed.
‘I thought that… I could still see some old acquaintances here.
‘Five years have gone by and many changes have taken place.
‘Well, perhaps they found better prospects elsewhere.’
“Young Madam, please follow me.”
Madeleine nodded and followed the housekeeper, at the same time asking, “Where’s Mason?”
The housekeeper was a little flabbergasted that Madeleine had addressed Mason by his name but on second thought, it should not come as a surprise because her boss had brought this lady back here and ordered for them to address her as Young Madam.
The housekeeper calmed down and answered, “Young Master Yeich is outside waiting for you.”
‘Tsk, this fella just proposed last night, with such an insincere method, and he didn’t even personally come to call me over to eat?’
She kept those thoughts to herself and followed behind the housekeeper as they maneuver around the corridors before arriving at their destination.
