"Uh-oh. You're busted, dad," Troy teased as he caught the football Ken just threw his way, resting his hands on his hips expectantly as a smirk pulled his lips up.
Ken released a sigh before mirroring Troy's stance, further reminding me of how much he was like his father. It was almost scary. He put on his I'm ready for an argument face.
"Would you mind telling me why the girls can't go out tonight?" I asked, my tone even and unsuspecting.
"Because it's not safe. My final answer is no," he stated firmly. I knew he was terrified something awful would happen to our girls while they were out and about, but we had forced them to take a self-defense class when they got to high school and I made sure to have a talk with them about drinking responsibly around the same time. I wasn't stupid. After being best friends with Kelly my whole life, I would rather know my girls were safe and knew what to do in certain critical situations than try to act oblivious
