Chapter 7

I gave her body a quick squeeze before she pulled away and wiped the snot from her nose with the back of shirt sleeve. She pushed herself off the couch and wandered off, where I wasn't quite sure. I heard her rustling around before coming back into sight with a packed bag. I pursed my lips to keep my own tears at bay. She silently slipped on her uggs before making her way back towards me, hiccupping and sniffling from her breakdown just mere minutes ago. There was still a constant stream of tears rolling down her cheeks. She turned her back to me and meandered up to the kitchen counter as I quickly pulled my own shoes on and came up behind her. I watched as she pulled a key out of her pocket before biting her knuckles to muffle a cry of pain. I began rubbing her shoulders in a comforting manner before hugging her around her shoulders as a reminder that I was here for her.
