The scattered light from the champagne tower shimmered through the crowd, and the elegant sound of violins couldn't mask the tension brewing in this corner of the ballroom.
Veronica swirled her champagne glass, a mocking smile tugging at her lips as she continued, "Your first love is practically stripping your company bare, and you still have the time and mood to attend a cocktail party?"
