Chapter 229
Joshua's feelings for Jasmine were genuine and respectful. He was never pushy or demanding. And as she watched how relaxed and easygoing he was around her, she slowly began to let her guard down.
"Alright. I'll go with you this weekend," she said at last.
Joshua's expression grew even warmer.
"Goodnight," he said.
Jasmine walked him to the door.
No sooner had Joshua gotten home than his phone rang. It was Amanda.
"Josh, are you free to visit me this weekend?" she asked, her voice laced with a hint of complaint.
Joshua chuckled. "Actually, I am. I was planning to bring a friend along."
The moment she realized it was just a friend, Amanda lost interest. "Forget that. Just come on your own. I'll have Whitney join us. We'll grab a meal together."
Joshua flipped open his laptop and started reviewing case files. "This friend is special. We're not together yet, but we will be. Grandma, don't invite Whitney. There's no future between us."
Amanda was stunned. She frowned in disbelief.
