"I get why you did it," Liam traces the shape of my lips with his pointer finger before letting it rest on my cheekbone. "It was hell."
"I know," I say. Because I really do. It reminds me of the time Liam had taken off and I was rendered useless as I questioned where he was. "But I needed to do it. I wasn't about to risk Meredith and her family. They were so willing to fight for me when they'd only just met me. I couldn't let them."
"That's because you're their family too, Ron."
"Yeah, but who I was to pull what happiness that had apart? People could die, Liam. People have died. I wasn't about to let Ambrose grow up motherless or fatherless like all of us have. We were put together because we all had no one; no one would miss us if we were gone. That's why they sent Belle, Rosalyn, Marcelo, because they didn't have what Ambrose has."
"Yeah, well now they do." Liam says. "Now we have each other and our own little band of rogues."
