Rosetta was nearly scared witless.
"M-Mrs. Caldwell said she won't be coming back ever again."
Damien's face turned ashen.
Rosetta could feel the air pressure in the room dropping fast. It was the first time she had ever seen him like this.
"She sounded like she meant it," Rosetta said, lowering her head and forcing herself to speak despite the fear. "I really don't know what's happened to her."
Damien clenched his fists. He didn't know what was going on with Autumn either.
In the past, whenever she threw a tantrum, she would meekly come back within a day or two. There had never been a single exception.
So, why was she behaving differently this time?
It wasn't that Damien truly cared about her. But back in the car, the way she had suddenly lashed out, hitting and biting him without hesitation, had shaken him.
For the first time, he had felt an urge to understand what was going on in her mind. But before he could say anything, she had already gotten out of the car.
