Chapter 147 Trouble On The Horizon
Aurora's POV
I watched as Maya left the room with Leo leading her out. I saw the hatred in her eyes; she did not want me here. That was obvious. Max attempted to comfort me.
"She wants me gone, doesn't she?" I dared to let out the breath that I had been holding.
"She is just upset and confused. It has been a tough time for her; give her some time to get herself back." Max's hand lingered on my back, a tentative attempt at comfort. I was grateful for that, but it did not drown the ache of tension inside me.
"I will do, but I hope she will see that my intentions are pure. I promise that I would not get in her way, nor would I want any harm to come to Jackson." I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat.
She blamed me.
She hated me.
If Leo had not pulled her away, I don't know what would have happened to me. Maya seemed crazy, and I was almost scared to be alone with her.
I remembered the first time she saw me—how I had acted, all over Kieran, desperate to prove myself.
