The silence between me and my brother thickened as the night wore on. We stood on the balcony, dragging on cigarettes, lost in thought. We both knew where we should be—at Nate's place—but instead, we were here, haunted by the choices we made. Choices driven by blind hatred. Choices that pushed our own mate to the brink, to a place where she would see no escape except to end her life. Choices that could never ever be forgiven.
We were sinners. But even the word ‘sinner’ would not be enough to express the weight of our actions.
