Everything was dark—an endless, suffocating darkness, thicker than anything I’d ever known. I could hear faint whispers, a woman’s voice, then another, one more familiar but still unreachable. A heavy weight pinned me to the bed, making it impossible to move, to speak, even to open my eyes. My mind felt hollow, memories blurred and slipping away like grains of sand. There was nothing left to hold onto—no faces, no names, no moments I could recall.
It was as if someone had erased my entire life.
Yet, somewhere deep inside, a raw, aching loss pulsed, a wound beyond memory. It stung as though I’d been dragged through hell—not once, but countless times. Had I? And if so, why couldn’t I remember the people I’d loved—or lost?
Just when I thought the weight pressing me down would keep me trapped forever, I felt a flicker of strength, my eyelids gradually lifting. Blinding light hit me, and I quickly shut my eyes, bringing a shaky hand up to shield myself.
