In the kitchen, Diana Fairfax poured Lottie some plum juice into a new bottle. Lottie hugged the bottle and drank happily, her little face full of joy.
Tangy and sweet — she was loving it.
Diana stood nearby, watching her with growing affection.
"Slow down, sweetie. There's more where that came from," she said with a smile. "I’ve packed some for you to take home. You can have more tonight, okay?"
Lottie paused, pulling her pink lips away from the bottle and looking up at Diana with big grateful eyes.
"Thank you, Grandma," she said sweetly.
That one word made Diana's heart melt. It felt so real—like she truly *was* Lottie’s grandmother. Her gaze softened, filled with warmth and love.
"Oh my, our little Lottie is just the sweetest girl, isn’t she?"
Unable to contain herself, she wrapped her arms around Lottie’s chubby little frame, planting a kiss on her forehead. Lottie giggled nonstop.
If there had been even a trace of doubt in Diana’s mind about Lottie's past, it had completely vanish
