Prescott Ellington carried Lottie straight into the study.
She was still fast asleep, her little eyes shut tight. Her long, thick lashes gently quivered with her soft breathing, casting faint shadows on her fair cheeks—looking peaceful and angelic.
His eyes softened as he glanced down at her. His movements were extra gentle now—not perfect, but way smoother than the first time he held her. Leaning down, he kissed her forehead lightly, then carefully laid her down on the sofa.
Earlier, Camila Harrington had wrapped a cute blanket around the kid before heading out, so Prescott didn’t have to fetch another one.
He crouched down and quietly watched her for a long moment, his gaze full of warmth, before getting up to handle business.
Two of his men stood waiting near the door, still and respectful.
As Prescott turned toward them, they both bowed slightly. “Mr. Ellington.”
“Keep it down,” Prescott shot them a sharp look, his voice low and clipped.
