Thea was drenched in soup, her face and clothes soaked. Around her, doctors, nurses, and patients turned to stare. She had never been so humiliated in front of so many people before.
She often told Skylar that she preferred going bare-faced and wasn't used to wearing makeup. But the truth was, she would always apply a full face of it.
Now, with hot soup dripping down her face, her eyeliner, mascara, and foundation had begun to melt. Black smudges mixed with pale, blotchy patches left her looking like a complete mess. If it weren't broad daylight, she might have looked more terrifying than a ghost.
