Eileen's POV
I was still reeling from the shock of being rescued by Brett and Arthur. One minute I was trapped and helpless, and the next I was safe in Brett's arms. He sped off, running at a superhuman speed that left me breathless. I felt like I was flying, my stomach dropping with the sudden rush of wind. The trees and buildings around us were a blur as we zoomed past them.
Before I knew it, we were back at the packhouse, and Brett was carrying me to my room. He placed me down gently on the bed, his eyes scanning my face with concern. I could see the worry etched on his face.
"Eileen, are you okay?" Brett asked in a low, gently voice. "Where are you hurt?" He gently brushed a strand of hair out of my face, his touch sending shivers down my spine.
