As he spoke, Callum had already pushed the door open and walked right in, completely at ease as if this were his own home.
He stopped beside the small dining table, where two dishes and a plate of mashed potatoes sat.
The salad looked bright and appetizing, while the brisket was still steaming hot.
The fork and knife rested on the side of her plate. It was clear no one had touched the meal yet.
"You haven't eaten?" he asked.
"What do you think?" Nadia closed the door, her voice laced with veiled sarcasm.
As shameless as ever, Callum pulled out the chair across from her and sat down.
"I haven't eaten either." He paused, then added, "I was going to invite you out for dinner, but since you refused to come, I had no choice but to come here."
The meaning behind his words couldn't be clearer. He was planning to mooch a meal.
Nadia walked to the table without looking at him.
"If you have something to say, say it now. Otherwise, my food's going to get cold."
She just wanted him gone
