Celestia froze mid-step, her eyes fixed on the folder that had just fallen at her feet-the one Victoria had asked her to pass to Jareth.
After a few seconds of silence, she slowly bent down and picked it up. She didn't even know what the file was about, but she was sure of one thing now: there was no way she'd give it to Jareth in person.
With that thought in mind, she turned and walked straight to the front desk, handing the file to the receptionist.
"This document... can you give it to Mr. Carrington-"
She cut herself off suddenly, as if a memory or a thought had just flashed through her mind.
"Ma'am?" the receptionist looked at her, confused by her sudden silence.
Celestia didn't respond right away. Instead, she lowered her gaze, concealing whatever emotion had surfaced. When she looked back up again, her face had returned to its usual calm.
With a polite smile, she said, "This document was sent by his mother. Can you give it to Mr. Carrington's assistant? He'll know what it's about
