"Not that great, huh?" Jareth Carrington frowned, paused for a beat, then decisively snatched the spoon and bowl from Celestia Brooks, setting them aside. "Guess we should just order takeout then, before it gets too late." As he spoke, he leaned to one side, fishing out his phone from his pocket, making a show of dialing.
Celestia looked up from her seat, staring at him in utter disbelief. He was buying that?
Panic crept in fast. Right as his finger hovered over the call button, she shot out, "No need, I mean… it's not amazing, but edible at least." She hadn’t expected him to take her complaint so seriously, and now her guilty conscience kicked in. Her eyes darted away, unable to meet his again.
Now, most people would’ve let it go after hearing that much. But a playful glint peeked through Jareth’s usually mature and composed facade. And instead of backing down, he looked even more determined.
