Chapter 65
Jacob sat with Franklin and Tati, pretending to engage in conversation, but his mind wandered. He was restless... he needed answers about Aaron.
Suddenly, Ivy walked in. “Mom, did anyone clean my room? I can’t find an important document,” she said, looking frustrated.
Jacob’s eyes locked on the necklace around her neck. His heart skipped. His expression changed instantly.
“No, no one cleaned your room,” Tati replied. “Maybe you didn’t search properly.”
Ivy was about to head upstairs when Jacob stood abruptly. “Ivy, wait.”
She turned to him. “Yes, Uncle?”
He approached her, voice tight. “That necklace… is it yours?”
Jacob’s thoughts raced. What the hell am I doing? I shouldn’t have asked her directly.
“When did you get it?” he added, struggling to sound casual.
Ivy blinked, a bit confused by his intensity. “Yes, it’s mine,” she answered with a polite smile. She noticed he looked uneasy. At first, she assumed he just liked the necklace—maybe he wanted something similar for his wife.
