Chapter 325
As Zelda's birthday celebration was in full swing, a tall, striking figure walked into the room. Damian's arrival caused the cheerful atmosphere to shift slightly, and all eyes turned toward him.
Unbothered by the attention, Damian strode over to Astrid without saying a word.
Astrid's smile deepened when she saw him. Gently patting his hand, she asked warmly, "Damian, what brings you here?"
"You're still recovering from your illness, and I was worried about you coming alone," Damian offered a perfect excuse.
Astrid saw right through his excuse and chuckled softly, knowing her grandson had found a reason to see Zelda. Being the understanding grandmother she was, she simply nodded and said, "That's thoughtful of you."
Damian's gaze fell on Zelda. He thought she looked particularly stunning in the form-fitting white dress adorned with flower petals, complemented by a pink diamond necklace. The combination was both beautiful and ethereal, instantly catching everyone's attention.
The party continued, filled with lively conversations among familiar faces. Zelda was surrounded by people who genuinely cared for her, and she felt relaxed and enjoyed every moment. It was not until after 10:00 pm that the celebration began winding down.
Ainsley turned to Zelda and said, "Zelda, I'll personally investigate those rumors at the institute tomorrow. Besides, you're meant to be in the lab; there's no need to waste time elsewhere."
"Thank you, Mr. Brown." Zelda nodded.
After most guests had left, Zelda approached Astrid, her heart full of gratitude for the wonderful celebration. "Mrs. Munoz Senior, thank you. This has been the happiest birthday of my life."
Previously, her birthdays had been simple but warm celebrations with just Harlan and herself. After Harlan fell ill, she had not celebrated for a long time, making this celebration particularly special.
"Zelda, you're still young. Don't push yourself too hard. If you ever need anything, come visit me at Munoz Manor," Astrid stated earnestly, holding her hand.
Gordon, who was still present, added, "You can also come to the Frazier residence as well. The Fraziers still owe you a favor from before."
Zelda felt warmth spread through her chest at their caring words. "Thank you, Mrs. Munoz Senior and Mr. Frazier Senior."
Standing behind Astrid, Damian's gaze remained fixed on Zelda as she spoke, making her feel somewhat uncomfortable.
Noticing the tension between them, Astrid chuckled softly. "I sense you two have things to discuss. I'll wait downstairs, Damian."
Before Zelda could protest, Astrid walked off with surprising speed for someone who was supposed to be recovering. She even dragged Gordon along with her. "Come on, Gordon. Let's leave these two alone," she said cheerfully as she exited.
Suddenly, the grand hall felt vast and empty, with just Zelda and Damian remaining. Zelda looked at the handsome man before her, unsure how to begin. After all, she had been the one who asked for the divorce, claiming she loved someone else.
The situation felt incredibly awkward until Damian's steady voice broke the silence. "Was there a reason you couldn't tell me about?"
