Chapter 1309
After the monthly test, Helen barely spent any time on campus. As she returned to her dorm, she noticed the lights were on. Madelyn was seated at her desk, focused intently on her calligraphy practice.
"You're working hard, huh?" Helen remarked casually. "Did you meet any inspiring experts at the Calligraphy Association?"
Madelyn kept her head down and didn't respond.
After a moment of silence, Helen couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Faint, muffled sobs soon filled the air, and as she got closer, she found Madelyn crying.
The paper in front of her was marked with streaks of tears, turning the once-clear letters into blurred, inky shapes.
"What's wrong, Madelyn?" Helen asked, her voice filled with concern as she handed her a tissue.
Madelyn bit her lip, her voice shaking as she struggled to meet Helen's gaze. "I'm so sorry, Helen. I lost your badge, and I can't find it anywhere."
