The dark circles under Julia's eyes looked like she had pulled an all-nighter.
"I'm fine," she said.
Not wanting Elaine to worry, Julia didn't admit that she had been waking up at night with morning sickness.
But Elaine's brows were furrowed with concern. She turned toward the kitchen and told the maid to make something nutritious to help Julia replenish her strength.
After breakfast, Julia drove to work as usual. Halfway there, she couldn't hold it in any longer. She pulled over, crouched by the roadside landscaping, and started vomiting.
"Ugh—" She threw up almost everything she had eaten that morning.
