Damien struggled to maintain his composure as he found his voice, "Celeste, stop making a scene. I'll spend a few more days with you if you come out now.
"Didn't I tell you? Ophelia is just for fun. I'm already getting tired of her.
"You're the one I love most—you're irreplaceable. Give me a little more time, and I'll return to our family soon.
"There's no point in continuing this tantrum. Aren't you afraid I'll actually divorce you?"
No matter what he said, only silence answered him. He couldn't find any trace of Celeste in any of the mansion's rooms. Even some of her belongings were missing.
She had truly left. Damien's lips pressed into a tight line when this realization finally hit him, the air around him becoming oppressively tense, ready to explode.
It wasn't just that Celeste's things were gone; the proof of their love and shared memories had vanished as well. The backyard was bare, with the large grove of plane trees completely gone, leaving only ugly stumps behind.
