Chapter 61
Grace closed her eyes, positioning her chin atop Clara's head. "Him? He'd never wait up for me. He doesn't care, after all."
Meanwhile, the light stayed on for the whole night in the master bedroom.
Adrian sat by the bed. Occasionally, he stood up to leave, only to sit back down again. Time slowly slipped by, and despite the passing hours, Grace never returned.
He pulled open the nightstand drawer and took out the coloured lucky charm.
As a father, he really should've returned it to Ethan. Out of selfishness, though, he kept the item that didn't belong to him.
"Didn't you say you wouldn't care? Why steal my lucky charm, then?" A tiny head popped into his room.
Ethan's distant gaze lingered on Adrian, as if questioning, "What kind of father are you?"
Adrian quickly put the lucky charm away before Ethan could take it. "As my son, you shouldn't have an issue offering me your lucky charm."
Ethan was speechless. "Give it back, and I'll tell you why Grace isn't here tonight."
