Lila Cross was utterly perplexed. "Did I do something wrong?"
The director gave her an irritated look. "What do you mean, why? Someone high up issued a strict order—no one is allowed to use you as a martial arts stunt double anymore."
"Instead of wasting time asking me, think harder about who exactly you've offended!"
With that, the director gave Lila a disappointed look, as if she were a hopeless case. "From today on, you'll work as a non-action stand-in. It pays less, but it's relatively peaceful."
"And maybe you'll finally figure out who it is you've crossed!"
Lila returned to the backstage area, utterly dejected.
Chloe Fortune tried to comfort her. "Actually, being a non-action stand-in isn't so bad."
A non-action stand-in stood in for actors during non-combat scenes—used for backshots, silhouettes, or distant shots, essentially a stand-in for the actor's presence.
