"Terrell, your mom and dad still haven't shown up to get you?" Most of the kids had already left.
"Terrell's parents don't want him anymore," a few kids huddled together, snickering.
"You're lying!" Terrell, in his little overalls, puffed up angrily. "My dad really likes me, okay?"
But he was lying.
His dad didn't like him at all.
"You're the one lying. My mom said no adults like Terrell. Your dad doesn't like your mom, and he doesn't like you either!" the ringleader stuck out his tongue at Terrell.
"You take that back!" Terrell's eyes started to turn red and he lunged at the other kid.
But the kid was taller, and Terrell was a soft little bun—there was no way he could win.
"Terrell, your dad doesn't even want you! No one's here for you!" The kid pushed Terrell over.
"My mom's just… just running late…" Terrell sobbed, sitting on the ground with a loud wail.
The ringleader bent down to grab a rock, ready to throw it at Terrell.
