William wasn't upset. "Mrs. Middleton, I appreciate your concerns, but this wedding is about us. The only thing I care about is having you there. It doesn't bother me whether the others are present. Our guests won't dare to say much."
He glanced towards the door, and the maid pushed in several racks of wedding dresses.
"Why don’t you try the dresses on?" he said.
Emelie picked up the calendar and flipped through the pages. She wasn’t looking for anything in particular. She just didn’t want to look at William.
William softened his tone. "Just give them a try. There’s one in there that I designed myself."
Emelie’s grip on the calendar tightened.
Wiliam wasn’t a warm person, and aloofness was his default setting. Whenever he spoke to Emelie gently, it always felt like he was trying to placate her.
