Letting Maya go was the hardest thing I’d ever done, but she was right. I had been a coward. I hadn't protected her. Kayla had been a complete bitch, and not just the usual mean-girl kind of way. No, the things she did to Maya were cruel. I had only learned today just how far it had gone. And what made it worse was that the pack doctor never mentioned how often Maya had to visit the hospital. Why the hell not? I wanted answers, and I intended to ask for them soon. But for now, I also needed to shift the attention off of Zach. We had uncovered a lot already today, but I could feel it, Ciara was still holding something back.
