Maya's POV
It had been four days since Mom left for her village. I was nervous, but I kept reminding myself I was doing this for her. She loves Wade, and I know he loves her too. They needed each other, and if there was a way to help them fix what had been broken, I was going to try. They were both miserable without the other.
Wade had gone to his parents’ place last night. Oliver told me his father, Richard, even came to Red Crescent to be part of the conversation. Everyone was frustrated with what he’d done. Joan told him plainly, that from a woman’s perspective, his lies caused the most damage. He had learned a hard lesson, but he seemed sincere about loving my mother. He wanted her back.
And I couldn’t help but feel guilty, I was the one who encouraged her to give him a second chance. I pushed her into this. Now I had to help fix it. They were so happy before Vera came between them. She carried a lot of the blame, too. But now that she’s gone, it’s time to make things right.
