Ashton's POV
“Before they get here, does anyone want to step out?” I asked, glancing around the room. It was already cramped, and I didn’t want the children exposed to the argument I knew was coming.
“There’s no way I’m leaving Maya alone in here with that woman,” Oliver said firmly.
“I’m staying too,” Gabriel added. “I know the laws just as well as you do, and we’re not going to let them bulldoze us. That she-wolf clearly has an agenda. What she pulled earlier was disappointing. And Damien? He’s not even part of our division. His Council is stationed way up north. How he already has her dancing to his tune is beyond me. Something doesn’t add up.”
“Yes,” I agreed, my tone grim. “It’s deeply concerning that she would risk her job for someone she barely knows.”
“We’ll be staying,” my father, Kelvin, said calmly. “I know how these old foxes operate. I’ve worked with Sean before, and I’ll be here to offer support.”
