Chapter 95
"Luca, you—"
Carl instinctively tried to sit up in bed, but no matter how strong his willpower was, he simply couldn't.
I didn't say anything more. Instead, I gave Carl a final, parting smile, then turned and resolutely walked away.
Mimicking the underworld mannerism I'd seen on TV, I gave Fabian a lazy two-fingered salute. Fabian merely nodded slightly in response. He didn't speak, nor did he make any other gesture.
Then, I patted Levi on the shoulder and left Carl's hospital room without looking back.
"Luca." Levi reflexively started to follow me, but his backside was badly injured, so he couldn't move quickly at all.
…
Levi was bold enough to disagree with Fabian after I left. "Fabian, I don't agree with your decision."
Fabian's expression clouded over immediately, and he slapped Levi on the back of the head. Levi instantly lowered his head and fell silent.
Meanwhile, Carl struggled desperately to get up from the bed, but he was too badly injured for his efforts to matter.
